Most people, including me, got this tune directly or indirectly from Clarence “Tom” Ashley (1895-1967). I played it on fiddle in the days when I performed with Tom, Brad & Alice, but I’ve found I really enjoy singing it to the accompaniment of the gourd banjo. Banjo tuned eBEAB.
